In episode 2, Cross tells Sampson that he smells like "mothballs and old spices"

Synopsis

A series adaptation of James Patterson’s novels about the complicated and brilliant detective Alex Cross. In real life, Isaiah Mustafa was portrayed in the great Old Spice commercials as "the man your man could smell like". I generally liked the show, it had a very good cast, and Johnny Ray Gill as Bobby Trey was definitely my favorite.

There was a lot to choose from if you wanted

For example: It gradually became less serious as the series went on, to the point of the last episode feeling like a daytime crime drama with Shaft-style music, a Magnum PI-like fight scene in a cubicle, and some pretty weird acting from Ryan Eggold during the interview with his characters that gave off Columbo vibes. Throughout Alex Cross has struggled to come to terms with and deal with the loss of his wife, it has affected his relationships with friends and family and his job which is completely understandable as it was just over a year before she was murdered. The love of his life, the mother of his children.

Of course he is distraught

So why is he already dipping the fuse into another woman?! And everyone desperately wants him to do the same!! This was my biggest gripe.

But maybe this is something that should be gradually achieved over the years as Cross becomes more experienced

There shouldn’t be any snooping around on the other woman until maybe the end of the second series to show positive and healthy growth and healing process. If it is renewed I would like to see a shorter series, 8 one hour episodes was just too much and could have been a little darker on the overall tone perhaps for a grittier feel. Overall, while it was a good hour to stick around for more than a week, I look forward to it being properly set up as it deserves.
