Night Shyamalan’s The Village
The plot of the film is similar to M. The story is about a mother and her two children who have taken refuge in a cabin in the woods. They live in complete isolation and suffer from hunger. The mother keeps telling her children that evil forces surround their house. The only way to avoid a terrible fate is to be tied to ropes that have been installed in the cabin’s basement. As children become teenagers, they slowly begin to doubt their mother’s stories.
This film has several noteworthy strengths
When they finally decide to let go of the ropes, a dramatic series of events takes place. First and foremost, the plot is clever and has several twists and turns. Although the general idea of the story is not new at all, it is executed wittily enough to keep fans of the genre entertained from start to finish. Another notable strength in this film is the acting. Halle Berry excels as a fragile, obsessive and strict mother. Both child actors also convince, one of them portrays a son who truly believes in his mother’s fairy tales, while the other demonstrates a more rebellious, independent and free-spirited attitude.
The locations are also carefully chosen
The two actors complement each other perfectly. They both have great careers ahead of them. The Old Cabin really emphasizes the simple, regressive and difficult life that the three main characters live. A forest of old trees, rough rocks and colorful mosses is the perfect setting for a tale of isolation. However, this film is not without its flaws. The pacing of the film is particularly slow and the first half of the film in particular needs a resilient, optimistic and mature audience willing to give this film time to grow.
This movie lacks any truly exciting scenes
They will be rewarded with a more dramatic second half. There is a gloomy atmosphere from beginning to end, but the film plods along without any particular highlights. This is a very light drama and thriller that could have benefited from some more intense sequences. Ultimately, Never Let Go is a family drama, a supernatural horror, and a psychological thriller that convinces with a clever plot and strong acting. and tweaking the settings while suffering from a particularly slow pace and lack of intensity. Therefore, Never Let Go is recommended only for mature, optimistic and die-hard fans of the genre.
