Synopsis

This documentary follows the lives of a group of young Egyptian girls from a very conservative village in Upper Egypt who, despite family rejection, formed an all-female acting troupe. Great short film and documentary by Nada Riyadh & Ayman El Amir;In a remote village in Southern Egypt or Upper Egypt, a group of girls rebel against their own families' Following strict traditions, they form an all-female street theater troupe, but are ridiculed for it. The girls simply dreamed of becoming actresses, dancers and singers, like so many Egyptians in Lower Egypt, challenging their own religious and conservative families with their unexpected performances. The short film was shot over a long period of four years to capture the different stages of the girls’ lives, and On the Edge of Dreams follows them from childhood to womanhood. while facing the most crucial decisions of their lives.
